"I'm Like Icarus, But I Know How To Swim" horizontal print

from $35.00

This is a borderless fine art giclee print on thick photo rag baryta paper.

This painting is about realizations and hope.

Icarus was given wings and warned not to soar too high or too low. He ignored the warning, flew too close to the sun, which inturn melted his wings, and he fell into the sea and drowned.

In my painting the woman has either flown too high or too low which has broken her wings causing her to fall into the sea. Unlike Icarus she knows how to swim. The woman is treading water and will be able to swim back to solid ground, and if she chooses to, will fly again.

Looking at this painting makes me feel so differently depending on what I’m going through that day. What does it mean to fly too high or too low? And what does it mean to swim?
